Dad requested for "miswa soup with sponge gourd".....less salt
Miswa is a thin noodles made of wheat flour. To cook the soup, you just need to sauté garlic and onions in oil, add some broth cubes, then put the noodles, add salt and pepper to taste, put some eggs, let it boil to cook, when its almost ready put the sliced sponge gourd, steamed for a few minutes....the soup is ready! You can also add ground pork or dried shrimps, depending on your cravings :)
After serving Dad a bowl of his request, I decided to put meatballs on the remaining soup and more black pepper too....
Dad requested that I cook "pork sinigang" for him. Good thing there are left over "pork belly lechon" from yesterday.
Sinigang is a Filipino dish characterized by sour broth with pork (or fish) and vegetables. My Mom who grew up in the Philippines taught me how to prepare the dish. Since we don't have tamarind fruit I used some tamarind mix that we bought from the Filipino store. I also added lemon juice for some zest.
And well, since I already have my hands on the lemon, I prepared lemon juice with honey.
